Final Fantasy XIII: How to Beat Odin
This is actually a really simple encounter, but it seems many people are struggling with it.
At the start of the fight switch your paradigm to Medic – Medic and continue to heal, typically he targets only one person and sticks on that target; if he is targeting Hope then be sure to start casting your heals before he attacks as Hope will take big damage.
Once Odin uses his shield ability (it will indicate he is using a shield in text above his head, and he will be standing still not attacking) switch the paradigm to Commando – Ravager and spam your auto-attack.
Keep repeating these steps and you should beat the doom timer in no time!
I did this and finished with a five star rating and didn’t come close to dying once.

I have been trying all night to beat odin, I am struggling I have tried a couple different techniques and so far none of them worked I even tried yours and I die almost instantly I have been stuck on it for at least 5 hours gettin highly annoyed with this thing beating me
Here’s what I did and it worked: There’s an item, Dr’s code I think that increases effectiveness of potions. Equip it, set light to Com and Hope to syn at the start until protect is cast on both light and hope, then set light to com and hope to rav and attack healing with potions often. they’ll heal about 300 hp with that item equipped.
anon – Have you been upgrading your stats via the crystalium?
I have to thank you for this tactic!!!
it freaking helped
No problem Jen
Glad it helped you
ill try this tactic, thanks =)
No problem, hope it works for you.
I tried Scott’s method, and it was a simple 2 minute battle.
I would bet anything you’re forgetting to press SQUARE when his gauge is full. I had to make a topic asking the same question.
jkl – I had that same problem in the first Eidolon fight, I didn’t read the tutorial properly so didn’t know I had to press anything to claim victory.
Scott’s method makes it easy. Thanks!
Scott’s method worked after upgrading the Drs Code item to lvl2 (note that there’s a shop available right before the battle – parts can be bought there to upgrade this item).
[...] Much thanks to the jkl, the person who left the comment on this post http://www.etftw.co.uk/blog/posts/183. [...]
Scott’s answer is the best won in under 2 min!
you think odins hard try brynhidr (sazh’s eidolon) but hen you finnaly get odin he sucks compared to the other eidolons and I’ve only got 3 outta 6
Thnx to scott.
I can’t beat him for the life o me. I tried your technic but Hope is too much of a weakling and Odins attacks are unrelenting! I level up and upgrade but I just can’t beat him!!! Lol I wish someone could beat him for me cause I’m losing sleep!!!
